Is There Anybody Out There?

In the words of the Floyd, "Is there anybody out there?"

I'm just curious, is anybody really reading this? I know I have 10 followers, but half of those are kin, so it's tough to know if I am preaching to an empty hall or not.

If you're reading this blog, do me a favor and leave a comment occasionally - so I know I am not talking to myself here. You don't have to become a Follower - I know I wouldn't. But just let me know you're there.

Thanks

Is anybody out here? Is anybody out here? You bet we are Dave. I have your blog marked in my RSS Reader and see your updates as they occur. I look forward to them. I may not comment every day but my heart is with you my friend. You may think you are pumping your words into the great abyss of cyberspace but I can assure you that there are lurkers who may not have the ability to express themselves but hang on your every word. There may even be those who gain inspiration and courage from your writing and I am one of them.

If I may be a bit selfish, I find your words cathartic. I find strength and encouragement to go on. I find the vision to see that there really is light at the end of the tunnel and the hope that things will and do get better.

Keep writing Dave. Don’t ever stop. You have more power in your fingertips than you can ever know. You never know when there is that frightened lurker out there who just stumbled on your blog after searching for countless days to find truth and help. A special someone who shares your situation because they too were just diagnosed with a serious illness or are facing a major event in their life. The really interesting thing I find about the Internet and blogs is that one never really knows who is out there and whose life they have helped… or saved.

God love you man. Keep writing and I and numerous others both known and unknown to you will keep reading.

Now, to paraphrase Monty Python, for something completely different. I was working on a television production crew as an EIC late last summer. The sound guy was a real pain in the… well, you know where. He bugged the director because he spoke too loud and he picked him up from inside the truck, he bugged the light guy because his smart lights made too much whirring noises, he bugged the electrician because her ground loops were driving him crazy… He even got on wardrobe’s case because of fabric noise. Basically he had everybody about to hang him from the grid with trickline. These guys got together and plotted a way to keep him busy. They had a PA capture a common house fly. They had someone distract the sound guy while, as instructed, the PA dutifully placed the live house fly inside the boom mic’s windscreen. The crew all wondered why he got so quiet and intense after he returned to his gear. He was going nuts himself trying to track down the strange, intermittent hum that suddenly came to his headphones. He never did find the problem and ended up going to his backup gear. What a clever way to keep a sound guy busy.

Forever Forward!

I'm out there. I am inspired by your courage. I love that you still have your sense of humor intact...
You rock! And even tho you may not see all of us there (tho that may change once the word spreads,) know that your fellow filmmakers are rooting for you!
